Clarinet

Joe began studying clarinet in fourth grade with his elementary school's band program. He has studied with Donna Morse, Jason Bielik, and Kenneth Grant.

Joe is committed to expanding the concert repertory, and enjoys developing and performing unusual recitals. Past projects have included "The Clarinet, All By Its Onesie" - an unaccompanied recital incorporating movement, lighting, and projected images - and "Synthesis I: Classics Re-Imagined" - a recital of music by Weber, Brahms, and Debussy accompanied by jazz combo. He is also committed to expanding the traditional concert audience, having performed recitals in schools, libraries, and nursing homes. He is currently in the midst of the Alternatives recital series, presenting repertoire on each auxiliary clarinet.

In addition to solo recitals, Joe also enjoys playing in chamber groups and larger ensembles.
