Program Notes:
For the past two years, I've ended my annual summer recital with a piece involving everyone in the recital. This year, Grainger's setting of "Irish Tune from County Derry" kept coming to mind, and eventually evolved into this full-fledged fantasia on the well-known tune "Danny Boy". Grainger's setting is borrowed from heavily in two half-strophes, but otherwise this setting is entirely original.
