Program Notes:

I'm not usually much one for poetry, but Richard Siken's poem You Are Jeff immediately struck me the first time I read it - vibrant, urgent, yearning, speaking to me as a member of the queer community. Premiering my setting of You Are Jeff this year with tenor Alexander Nick was one of the highlights of my musical career. I was happy to discover that all the poems from his first collection Crush have this same immediacy, and it is my hope to eventually set all of them!
