For the past two years, I've written a set of twelve piano preludes in the early months of the year. It's been really enjoyable to sit at the keyboard and work through a prelude in a single sitting. They capture little snatches of my musical thought that may be influenced by other pieces or go on to influence other pieces in the year to come. Particularly at an unstable time, it is nice to take some hours back just for myself.
I personally ascribe no weight or meaning to astrology, but its symbology is powerful in our culture. Each prelude was inspired by the constellation in question rather than any particular astrological significance!
