A Study on Seven Seventh Chords for Seven Euphoniums
Duration: 7'
This piece is the fourth in a series of Christmas gifts for my dear friend Noah Lauziere. I had initially conceived writing one piece for each of his years at Carnegie Mellon - a sonata for euphonium and piano, a piece for tuba-euphonium quartet, a piece for euphonium and string quartet, and a piece for brass quintet. However, as his senior year approached, he turned more towards music production and didn't have a brass quintet he was playing with. Thus, I conceived a piece that could be performed live but is intended to be performed with one live soloist and pre-recorded accompaniment, a blend of my aesthetic of writing for live musicians and his aesthetic of music production.
