Close to Home, Op. 122, No. 2 (2021)

Program Notes:

In the spring of 2021, I began giving informal composition lessons to Chris Price, a junior at LPHS. I decided it would be fun to also realize the assignments I was giving him, hence this series of short pieces.

The assignment:

I would like you to write a short (ca. 32-ish bar) piece for cello and piano. The cello part may only use a single note! (You may choose which note it is.) There are no restrictions on the piano part, except that it must be playable!
