Carmen is a four-act opéra comique telling the story of the soldier Don José and the Romani woman Carmen. Although it was not initiall popular in France, it gained popularity in some international stagings and today is one of the most popular operas. This Chanson du Toréador comes from Act 2, when the toreador Escamillo arrives in town and introduces himself to Carmen. It is prominently featured in the video game Five Nights at Freddy's, from which it has become popular to a younger generation!

This arrangement was prepared for performance at the third annual LPCSC Clarinet Day on February 1, 2026.
