Program Notes:

In the Hall of the Mountain King was composed as incidental music for Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt. Grieg writes, "For the Hall of the Mountain King, I have written something that so reeks of cow patties, ultra-Norewegianism, and 'to thyself-be-enough-ness' that I cannot bear to hear it, though I hope the irony will make itself felt."

This arrangement was prepared for performance at the second annual LPCSC Clarinet Day on January 19, 2025.
