Program Notes:

This piece was originally written for tuba-euphonium quartet, as a Christmas gift for my dear friend Noah Lauziere. I thought for a while about transcribing it for various ensembles and now that I'm going back through and editing old compositions it seemed the perfect time to do so! The saxophone choir version was commissioned by Dr. Nicki Roman for the UIUC Saxophone Ensemble. It is similar but not identical to the original tuba-euphonium version.

In terms of form, I took inspiration from Ton ter Doest's Circusmuziek for reed quintet, which is in seven short, untitled movements. "Circusmuziek" is Dutch for, as you might guess, "circus music". I wanted to title my piece "factory music" in Dutch, which turns out to be "Fabrieksmuziek", but this lost the cognate-feel, so I decided to go with the quasi-Dutch Factorimuziek instead. The movements alternate dances and songs.
