For Flute and Bb Clarinet
Duration: 1'15"
Opus 6, "Duets", is the first to consist of mostly decent music. However, most remain un-publishable for various reasons. All are scored for either flute and clarinet or two clarinets - or both. I would play clarinet and the other part would be covered by Donna Morse, my lesson teacher; Rose Freeman, a girl who had lessons directly after me; or Lisa Clark, my sister. To my recollection, they were all inspired/requested by Mrs. Morse as assignments for lessons. My penchant for sharing melody among all parts makes its first appearance in these duets.
This setting of "Joy to the World" is, to my recollection, original. It was written in seventh grade for Lisa and me to play. The theme is presented classically by the flute and then in a more jazzy style by the clarinet. It is suitable for developing players.
