Dawntime, Op. 17, No. 1 (2008)

Program Notes:

Opus 17, "Jazz Pieces" catalogues pieces I wrote while studying jazz piano under Mary Giacobbe. While most exist only as lead sheets, a few are written out in full notation. I recognise the strangeness of providing a cover for a lead sheet but, not having nearly enough to publish my own fake book, I'm not quite sure how else to publish them - and there is something to be said for consistency!

"Dawntime" is my first lead sheet, written on November 24, 2008. Some chromatic harmonies spice up the short head.
